FEB. MAR. 2021 I I Garavaglia. Minister with portfolio. This is because our sector, before the Covid crisis, was worth over 13% of the Italian GDP, and was one of the most vital economic sectors. The key point at the moment is to secure the productive infrastructure, said Draghi: “Measures are needed to prevent companies from going bankrupt and workers from losing their jobs. Companies must be prevented from bankruptcy because otherwise human resources would be lost”. In fact, in these very weeks when the Covid variants seem to be going crazy, and the vaccination campaign is not taking off, many tourism companies (albeit partially recovered) see the spectre of default. The hope of an entire industry is that Draghi will move from words to deeds as soon as possible. And we all hope so. The restaurateurs, the catering staff, the suppliers and we at CIC, who with a spirit of resilience are trying to resist by continuing to give ourselves strength. Because our sector must continue to survive and prosper because it represents conviviality. That conviviality that Covid has taken away from us and to which we aspire to return as soon as possible! By Nicola Loverato AT PAGE 8 IQ MEMBERS Abruzzo, Puglia e Basilicata The prolonged closure of bars and restaurants, made necessary by the pandemic crisis, has brought the entire supply chain to a long and painful standstill. Today, they are ready to reorganise themselves in order to face the new start. Provided, however, that they are able to benefit from definite support measures at both an economic and regulatory level. Here are those indicated by CIC members operating in three regions of central and southern Italy. by Manuela Falchero Mister Chef Range and strengths Since 1979 it has been operating in the wholesale of food products, serving restaurants and pizzerias in the provinces of Pescara, Chieti, Teramo, L’Aquila, Isernia, Macerata and Ascoli Piceno. It handles fresh, preserved and frozen food products, as well as professional cleaning products. Deliveries are made within 24 hours of receiving the order using its own refrigerated vehicles at three temperatures. Actions and requirements to overcome the crisis Mister Chef’s appeal can be summed up in just three words: back to work. And this means keeping restaurants open even in the evening, in the knowledge that the risks are contained: all you need to do is respect the rules and enforce them, including stepping up controls. F.lli Simone Range and strengths For three generations, the Simone family has been conducting its entrepreneurial activity in the Ho.Re. Ca. sector, bringing its own values to a constantly evolving market: reliability, helpfulness and professionalism, as well as the search for innovation required nowadays. Now on the threshold of the fourth- generation handover, the company relies on a symbiotic and osmotic relationship with supply chain partners and a broad knowledge of the territory. The company is inspired by a maxim shared with its suppliers: “our customers’ customers are the starting point for the growth path we want to continue to take”. The sales network currently covers Basilicata and extends to neighbouring areas, from the Vallo di Diano and the Gulf of Policastro to the northern part of Calabria. Actions and requirements to overcome the crisis F.lli Simone’s list of urgencies is addressed directly to the institutions. “We are asking the state to simply act like a state,’ says owner Claudio Simone, ‘that is, to adopt the same values towards us as we do towards our supply chain, or to support us in doing so. Too often we have felt alone during the lockdown. Only the strength of the community we have created has enabled us to meet the constant challenges. We have strengthened our relationships inside and outside the company even further. However, we ask that we be able to capitalise on the gratitude and trust that many have placed in us and that we receive the right support for the continued investments that we want to make. We don’t want to stop, but rather we are asking for the tools to return to growth and to introduce our family to new customers and suppliers”. Daunia Alimenti Range and strengths Specialist in the distribution of products for pastry shops, ice cream parlours, pizzerias and bakeries, it also caters for the catering channel. Founded in 1976, it focuses on the quality and breadth of its range, which also includes proposals inspired by traditional Italian regional recipes. It pays great attention to its choice of suppliers, selected from among the leading names in their sectors of activity. Its qualified staff ensures efficient delivery of orders throughout the Apulia region. Actions and requirements to overcome the crisis Daunia Alimentari’s request for support from the relevant authorities focuses on two points. The first corresponds to the request for tangible aid, such as economic support linked to the actual lower turnover achieved in 2020 compared to 2019. The second refers instead to the issue of tax suspension for the whole of 2021 and a further facilitation to be provided during the recovery period. Hielo Range and strengths A benchmark for the distribution of food products in Salento, it serves four different channels: catering, restaurants, hotels and collective catering. An efficient team of agents MAGAZINE
