August /September 202 2 II MAGAZINE But then what is the winning approach? We must not rest on our laurels and assume that the success of yesterday and today can be maintained forever unchanged. One has to develop the ability to understand how to adapt to the times. Take a mental approach to be ready, curious, responsive and able to pick up signals. Having an open mind, know to listen and welcome good ideas, without falling into the trap of habit and “it has always been done this way.” And so if one does not understand that change is a necessity and does not step out of one’s comfort zone and out of one’s mental patterns obstructing reali- ty, the danger is to fail. This is the spirit of Cooperativa Italiana Cater- ing’s perspective vision and ongoing renewal, strengthening itself and its identity in the flux. Designing the future through continuous improvement. by Massimo Sassi AT PAGE 6 CICMEUP Thanks Rome COOPERATIVA ITALIANA CATERING, FROM VISION TO PROJECT REALISATION On 23 and 24 September, the Eternal City with its breath-taking beauty welcomed Italian Catering Cooperative’s third trade fair of the year, a very important meeting where members and suppliers became aware of the progress made in the development of our Cooperative’s ambitious project. Development of a strong, professional and recognisable brand on the market, corporate cohesion and concentration of purchases, nationwide coverage of the entire national territory, international expansion: these are the four pillars on which we are working to make our Cooperative strong and achieve our objective of creating the most original and proactive alternative in distribution to the Ho.Re.Ca. channel. An ambitious project, but vital for member companies to emerge and stand out, through the changes taking place in the sector, as leaders. It was the event of the debut of the new Qualitaly labels, which, in addition to the beautiful restyling of the image, to innovatively introduce the adoption of informative, functional and perceptive criteria of great help to chefs. Also arriving in Rome from his restaurant Symposium in Cartoceto, Marche, was Michelin-starred Chef Lucio Pompili . Considered by Gambero Rosso, and others, ‘one of the greatest Italian chefs’ and no less than ‘a true collector of ingredients’, the Chef will be the spearhead of the qualitative selection of Qualitaly brand products. Thus was born a joint venture between the expertise of the CIC network and the technical skills of a master of the kitchen, already fielded for Farinetti in the Eataly project, to guarantee the selected products safety, consistency and high technical performance that no competitor can boast. Undoubted star of these two days was the great participation of members. The presence of over ninety operators including owners, buyers and salespeople, who showed great enthusiasm for the changes taking place, consolidating that team spirit that fuels great enterprises. And there was no shortage of moments dedicated to strengthening the group. So we all set off on a bike ride to discover the most delightful corners of Rome’s beauty together. Really inspiring! The event ended with the illustration of changes to the regulations, which will be voted on at the next trade fair in November, necessary to create the prerogatives for a nationwide territorial coverage in which meritocracy and respect among members are the driving factors of the Cooperative to aspire to a leading role, and not just in Italy’s Ho.Re.Ca. The event with all members will therefore be in Vienna, on 25 and 26 November, to lay another fundamental milestone in the CIC project. Receiving compliments from members and suppliers was a great incitement for the organisation and the participants to continue, keeping the rudder straight towards the goal. Today, after the two-year pandemic and worsening world instabilities and the tension over material and immaterial resources, we are more and more convinced that if we want to sail through the storms, we couldn’t do so in small individual boats, but only on board a strong ship with unfurled sails, named Cooperativa Italiana Catering!
