A more than positive
balance
Do you remember the TV series
Space 1999? It was a much-followed
TV series in the mid-70s and early
1980s about an apocalyptic event
at the end of the millennium, at the
expense of our moon, unhooked from
Earth’s orbit. Well, in those years
thinking about 1999, at the end of
this millennium, it was like launching
yourself into a future where
everything would be different.
Someone even assumed that mankind
would be fed in a completely new and
‘aseptic’ way, taking pills in place of
the much loved ‘Mediterranean diet’...
In reality, 1999, as well as the new
millennium, produced none of this.
In fact, we at CIC remember 1999
very well because it was the year
of the birth of the cooperative that
was founded on two fundamental
principles, quality at the right price.
Principles that have remained
unchanged over time and which still
represent the foundations on which
our statute is based.
Through the years we have done
so much: 18 years have passed in
a hurry but we remember well the
difficulty year after year to build a
solid practice and an real benchmark
for the HORECA sector.
Only a few months ago there was
the shareholders’ meeting for
the election of the new board of
directors, which, with the exception
of the Vice-President, which saw
the appointment of Antonio Bocchi,
reconfirmed the whole board. This
is a sign that there is confidence in
our work and the desire to continue
following the guidelines that have
been implemented to date.
Our branded products work and offer
merchants the opportunity to ensure
consistent quality. And this has
enabled us to be the focal point of
interest from other food distribution
companies which ask to be part of
our structure. This is pleasing, but
I would like to point out that the
inclusion of a new member in CIC
requires careful selection because we
want to guarantee our customers not
only the best product, but also and
above all, a supplier able to offer a
regular and punctual service, like that
which, until now, all CIC members
responsible to us have provided to
the sector operators.
Let’s go!

Nothing is impossible!
For the former US President Barack
Obama, the scientific, technological
and commercial community must
cooperate in order to build a better
food future for all.
Barack Obama spoke during Seeds
and Chips in Milan, the summit on
food innovation within the Tuttofood
fair and in his speech touched on
several themes, focusing mainly on
how healthier and more sustainable
food is essential for curbing climate
change, a problem that, for the former
president, will “define the contours of
this century.”
“The path to a future of sustainable
food will require creativity and
investment... but this planet is not
doomed. These are problems caused
by man and can be solved by man.
Nothing is impossible.”
Obama then insisted on the concept
of food waste arguing that “more than
40% of food is thrown away in the
United States every year.”
It is good to think that food
sustainability is a concept on which
Italy has already been active for some
time. Through Law N. 166/2016,
entered into force on 14 September
last, better known as the Gadda
